Im planning to make a rear fuel tank location on my 94 Long bed, Ive heard of Bronco IIs, & Cherokee & F3500 aft rear dually s. I tried a search but wasn't able to find anything. Plus is it a matter of removing all spare tire brackets & just welding in the fuel tank cross members & installing fuel straps

I'd get a custom tank made myself. Something set up for rear fill.

That's what I'm going to do if I ever put a rear tank in my truck. Make a flip down plate and get a custom-built tank with rear filler and the bolts for a 5.0 pump.

im confused? MS paint drawing yes please?

Not going to make a paint drawing.

I'll cut a hole in my rear bumper and get a flip down plate like they had in the 70s. Not that hard to do.

I am new here. I used the fuel tank from 88 long bed. Tank, lines, switch, and the door from side rear fender. Also got spate tire rack for the inside bed. I have a 84 short bed with 2.8L and auto. Working on a 302 transplant.

how far does it stick above the frame? side picture with the bed off?

looks to be about even with the top of the frame. which would make the most sense. unless you had a body lift and wanted to add another inch or 2.

Thanks & with that I was able to find a SWEEEEET deal on a 23 gal rear fuel tank from a 90 bronco II. Not only did i get the tank which has the filler tube & gas cap & flange to mount to body, but i also got the skid plate ,fuel support straps, the wiring to the internal fuel pump which does still work & the back section of frame with the front & rear cross supports to mount the tank too & this guy is into Bronco IIs & said that this is the first one he has seen with an additional frame mounted factory external fuel pump, which he also gave me. For a mere $20 :icon_thumby::yahoo::headbang:, He even had it posted on C/L with the whole vehicle & listed it with all for $20 & I was the only one that was interested the tank. :icon_cheers:

If I was to of bought some items like new pump, sending unit, straps & tank from Autozone, just those 4 items would of cost over $425.

The Ranger/Bronco II Gods must of been looking out for me :icon_cheers::yahoo:

Is there a chemical that can clean & seal the inside of tanks as I would want to do that prior to installation for my own sense of feeling good about removing any bad residue & making a good internal seal.

90ranajo: I like your fuel filler, looks like its from a jeep?

I actually got a damaged bed for parts for $20 & cut out the a square section surrounding the stock fuel door & graphed it into my bed where a stock rear fuel door would of been if equipped!!

I borrowed daughters digital camera yesterday & damn thing wont work

The hump actually sticks above the frame a bit. I had to trim the under bed cross brace out to clear the tank.

I paid $100 for a new tank, $50 in steel & about $40 in miscellaneous parts

There is. Can't think of a brand name at the moment

Its from a newerish Jeep Wrangler

i got a 27 gallon aluminum tank from a boat. 48"x18"x12" (roughly). fit perfect between the front of the bed and the wheel wells. plumbed the fill out the side of the fiberglass topper as i didn't want to cut into the body on my 1st gen. not being fi helped in the install. just plumbed it into a marine manual valve to switch between the stock and bed tank. run the bed tank till it goes empty, reach down and switch to the original tank with the gauge and keep driving until i need to refuel.
now all i need is for gas to get cheap enough for me to fill them both!!

whats the purpose of the frame mounted fuel pump that on the 90 bronco II when theres one in the tank
