That is the IAT(intake air temp) sensor.
Should be a 2 wire connector for it in the harness.

It is not an extremely important sensor since MAF sensor calculates air flow based on the cooling of a wire, so air temp is partially included in that.
So engine performance wouldn't be greatly effected.
Working IAT could improve MPG but only slightly.

The Check Engine light(CEL) should be on without that sensor connected, and codes 54 or 64, or 112 or 113 set

I cant find anything that will connect to it, but the truck runs great without it and gas isnt bad enough to be a big deal, thank you for the quick reply

I am not as familiar with the 3.0 as I am with the 2.9/4.0, but if the engine, or even just the intake, was swapped from an earlier year that sensor may just be there to plug the hole. I don't know for sure if or when Ford may have done that to the Ranger 3.0.

After a certain point Ford started deleting the IAT in the intake and building it into the MAF. 5 and 6 wire MAFs have the IAT as part of that sensor.

i'm going with ADSM on this one

Yep, oxygen sensor, it's important unless there is another one connected somewhere close...
