I just replaced the temp sender im my Ranger. I inherited it, and the gauge has never worked, that I have seen. Always on the far left, at cold.

Now, after changing out the sender, and putting in near the same amount of coolant that came out when I drained the radiator Im getting the following, and wanted to see if this is standard operating procedure for the Ford gauge. It is fairly similar to the one in my old '88 Turbo Thunderbird.

In the morning, about 40* out, I'll start it up, and obviously, is shows cold. I'll wait for the idle to settle down and then start out to work. Usually around 30 seconds or so. Work is about 3 miles away in stop and go traffic, averaging 25-40 mph. At work, the needle is about half way between the low mark, and the N in 'NORMAL'. I took a longer way home yesterday, and it got just about to the N. it was about 50* outside...

i don't trust any of my gauges anymore so i'm putting in all new ones with new senders. aftermarket ones up on my dash so i can see them easily day or night. doesn't seem right to put them down under the dash where you have to take your eyes off the road to check them... imho.
