hey folks im new here, and i need a little help my 88 2.9 ranger gets no spark iv changed the coil and the tfi whats next? HELP PLEASE

is the grey relay on the passenger side fender well clicking? how about the little box on the back of the dizzy...that can go bad. could have lost a timing chain. make sure the rotor button is spinning wile you turn the engine over. and i had a problem with a little ground wire on one of my 2.9s that is on the passenger side fender well

I was having problems of it dying after long drives, changed tfi, relays, ignition coil and then it just didnt want to start again.I wasnt getting spark. Im in the process of changing my pick-up getting weird readings from it compared to a new one. hopefully the pickup will fix the issue.

ok well im kinda a green horn, and i hate to sound stupid but can i check the plug in to the coil with a test light? and to stegomon the relay clicks the box on the dizzy is new and the rotor spins, man im lost. o and to mendozamm if that works let me know thanks 4 all the suggestions

ok i found the plug in to the coil is hot and the plug that goes in the tfi module is hot, so does that mean its a problem in the distributor?

I found out the coil plug-in to mine was bad one day when I cleaned whatever plugins I could get to,the one on the coil looked nice and clean, went to start it and it wouldn't start. A friend who does mobile auto electric diagnostics hooked up his computer and no fire, jiggled the plugin and it started right up. At idle he could move the plugin and it would cause the idle to move up and down.

I've been driving since 1984 and working on cars and trucks just as long,my Ranger is vehicle number 34 and after getting my Ranger it's been a learning experience....it's the first "newer" Ford I have had.
