about 6 month ago, coming home 2nd shift, about 12:15 a.m. i go around a wet corner and lose traction, i held it to the floor, grabbed 3rd and spun the r.r. until i needed to grab 4rth gear. about a block up the street, i notice a cop behind me, didnt see one when i went around that corner, check my speed, its o.k. set cruise for 35 and right after that the lights come on. i pull into a lot and as i turn im out of his headlights, so i grab my seat belt. (no i dont reguarly wear one) i get asked for the usual licence, reg, ect. i get asked what i was doing back at the corner, i said it must have been slick, didnt realize i was slipping tires. (wasnt about to say i ment to do that, that would be considered reckless op, 4 points on the licence right there!) then he asked about my plates, they were first issued 10 years ago, and i had sprayed them yearly with clearcoat, well the cearcoat was cracked with age and the plates dont reflect light like there supposed to. i didnt tell him that, i merely said it must be weathering and age. in hio you are supposed to have a county sticker in the lower left corner of the plate, i have a tiny conferderate flag sticker instead. nothing was said about that. i dont know what the plate viloation would be, but i was let off with a warning to get new plates and to be carefull going around wet corners. im sure the seat belt thing would have at least been 2 points. i got off real lucky that night. for the next several months i took a different way home. my plates didnt expire until january and i wasnt about to get new if i could manage it. whan i got the letter in the mail about renewal i did request new plates though, took a few weeks for them to come in. just got them last week in fact. and yes, i did clear-coat them. and probly the best thing of all from that night, the tool box behind the seat is where i keep all the "glove box stuff" its also where i have a pellet gun that looks real. glad it wasnt noticed. real fire arm or not, it would have not been good for that to have been noticed. yes it was loaded with b.b.'s ihavent read through all the storeies so im sure mine may be pretty mild, but i feel i got real lucky. the last time i had anything on my licence, my insurance raised my rates for 2 years and nothing i did cost them any money. i figure any chance the city has to gain revenue they would jump on, but i guess i caught a break that night. a good poker face and not giving any attitude probly helped too.
