I installed an ultra-gauge a few weeks ago and it keeps track. The ultra-gauge is great.
You can track anything the trucks computer has data on - up to eight different things. They are about $65 and they plug right into the OBD2 port if the truck is new enough to have one.
On a recent 175 mile trip I got a maximum of 23.5 mpg (highway miles only). When I got back in town it immediately started to drop. Most of my mileage is back and forth to work on the freeway so overall I get pretty good mileage. The truck has a camper top in the back which streamlines it a little.
When I first got the truck about 5 months ago it got about 19 mpg. I put in new plugs, plug wires, air filter and removed the roof rack that was installed. If you have a really dirty air filter it will ruin you gas mileage.
