What Year Ranger has a MAF?

My truck is an 85, does it have a MAF? I can't find anything on the web of what years the MAF was introduced.

well i was reading in the tech section on the conversion to see if there is a year annotation, but the easiest way to tell is do you have the aluminum maf housing on your airbox? basically you have your lid then an aluminum thing attached to it with a 4 plug sensor on top. if you do then its a mass air system. if not then you have a vacuum actuated manifold absolute pressure (map) sensor on your throttlebody/intake and your using a speed density system. i believe you do have a mass air system but pop your hood and look to doublecheck.

i have seen 1988 cali trucks with 2.3 maf.

never seen a non cali maf before 90 though that i recall.

No mine does not have it on the airbox. Thats what confused me, because it seemed everywhere I looked a MAF on the airbox was involved. Ok thanks guys

early to mid '90 for the MAF, my '90 was built in '89 and had the '89 operating system so it didn't have the MAF, had the '90 cab wiring, '89 oxygen sensor (3 wire), kind of a crossbreed...

the turbo 2.3's got VAM's, basically the same thing just a different operating method...
