What year make the best offroad ranger ??

For lifting purposes, 98+ are the most expensive with the least options.... I drive a 99 lol. Least with the 93-97 you'll have coils not torsion bars. And less bulbs to replace should you want to mess around with new lights. The idiot who owned mine before me did a half ass wire splice on one of my blinkers, so I have to cut and get a wire to lengthen it correctly...
Just make sure the guy didn't half ass any "self repairs".

95-97. You get OBDII which is nice for diagnosis, an updated interior and in 97 the front brakes were upgraded.

He said the brakes were updated in 97.

'91-'92 Supercab 4.0 4wd manual everything. Lift it, lock it, gear it, add tires, bumpers, sliders and skids. Maybe get a 31 spline rear when you gear it, too.

don't forget b4000 94-97 is same
