I was wondering what year the odometers were digital, I want to swap one in but i need to know if it will work with my 03 sohc computer

Think 2003 or 2004 when the clusters were redesigned. Dont know if the signals to the cluster were also changed, or if they will work on the earlier wiring systems.

It really depends on where it gets its signal from, and how many parts and wiring you have to swap in to upgrade the signal. Its simple on the 99 since it just gets the signal from the rear diff which is processed by the ABS module before being sent everywhere else. Later models got the speed signal from the trans and it was sent to other modules for processing and forwarding.

is the abs module different with an explorer?

i have a 99 explorer rear, going to swap in a explorer abs pump, and master cylinder if that matters, will it work with an abs module from a explorer?

i thought the odometer was gear driven on the earlier cluster, i don't know jack about this haha..

If you're talking about a digital display, then I think it was in '04", had one in my '05'. I hated it because at times it was almost impossible to read. You turn the lights on and the display would dim and depending on the sun, really did become hard to read. Love the dash instruments on the '03'.

No, I think, From what I have seen from google searches and such, the newer instrustment clusters have a digital odometer but speedometer, tach and pressure/volt/fuel gauges still had needles. I think I want the dash with the instruments, My problem is I have a cluster from a 02 xlt and i'm not sure if the odometer will work with my 4.0 digital odometer, but from what you guys have said I should be good because the computer does not drive the odometer.

Sorry for my incomplete/misleading answer, I meant only the odometer. I think you are good with that year compatablity wise.
