what year 5R55E will fit a 1998 with 5R55E ?

hey guys, my 98 4.0 5R55E has the OD light flashing when i come to a stop or when i run about 60-70 mph.
took it to a mechanic and he run it up and down the road with his computer scanner hooked up.
It read "searching for 5th gear"
i would rather find a good used one so what model years will replace it without modifying anything ?
will a 2000,01,02 work ? as they are easier found than a 98

idk what years fit but when you do get the used trans make sure to install some of the updates and upgrades or it will break down just like the old one.

I found this write up but im not really certain.

i can find plenty newer than a 98 and with low miles but the 98's are fewer with high miles.

what type updates ,etc.. are u talking about ?

i've heard an upgrade kit from sonnax that addresses the weak points in the 5r55e such as an upgraded valve body and other valvebody improvements
