I have got a bad carb an no gas gauge in my truck, I have no clue how much gas miliage i get outta the lil truck 2.8 v6

use your distance traveled, and the amount of fuel you put in at fuel up. that is how i get accurate even if i only use 1/2 tank

2.8 should get at least 15?

Mine never got much better than 10mpg, when the trip timer rolled around to 100 miles I was headed to a station. The gauge is kinda flakey which adds to the fun.

mine got i think 350ish miles to a tank

Are 2.8's really that bad? My 2.9 with an auto trans gets 16/20 city/hwy and I always thought it should be better. My GTO actually does better than the Ranger when I keep my foot out ot it....

i get about 15 around town or on the highway but i have 33's on my truck so.

my 2.8 is nothing but a trail rig so its super hard to judge the correct mpg's. The one time i actually took it on a couple hundred mile trip i got around 9mpg. thats with 4.88 gears- that throw my rpms through the roof on the highway- 33'' tires and the pickup bed loaded up with a dirt bike and 4 days of camping gear, not to mention Im a mile above sea level so once i start climbing the slightest altitude it all goes to crap.

kinda sad, my buddy gets better mpg's in his 78 bronco that has a fuel injected 460 :icon_confused:

My 84 got about 5 city and 7 highway. But i guess that's the sacrifice you have to make for all the power that mighty 2.8 makes. "sarcasm" Both of my 2.9's make about 20 city and 23-25 highway.

If everything is working just right they can supposedly get pretty decent milage... but with a computer controlled carb there is a lot to go wrong.

A $500 carb for a 110hp (if new) engine just didn't pencil out for me, so I never got around to fully finishing my duraspark swap on it. I finally snagged a 1.08 1250 Motorcraft carb, but at that point the end of my 2.8 driving days was in sight.

when my 2.8 b2 was stock(ish) (and gas was real gas), i got about 30 mpg. thats with a 4 speed and no a/c. i yanked off the computer controls on the carb, and made my own manual adjustments.

I got about a 139mpg to one tank driving arond town not to bad but gas prices sky rocketing im going to fix it an park it
