What Transmission Do I Need?

I have a 1987 Ranger 4x4 with the 2.9 V6. The transmission is ready to go out any day now (noisy,whines,hard shifting, loves to get stuck in 3rd gear) and I am seeking a replacement before she leaves me on the side of the road. From reading the tech library article on manual transmissions I have determined I have the Mitsubishi FM145. What are my replacement options? I want to be able to use my same driveshaft. Also does the replacement have to come from another 4x4 truck?

M5odr1 swap time...... any other is a waste of time

Must be from 4wd 2.9l or 4.0l truck..... not sure on the driveshaft

M5OD will not let you use the existing drive shafts. It is longer and needs a shorter shaft.
