How to unload a D60 from a truck, for sissies. Six easy steps!

Step 1: Ratchet straps from heavy item to rafters till it's in the air
Step 2: Drive out from under heavy item
Step 3: Recovery strap around heavy item, around rafters, to receiver hitch. Drive forward until strap is tight
Step 4: Loosen ratchet straps
Step 5: Drive backwards slowly
Step 6: Repeat steps 4 and 5 until item is on jack stands.

This is probably very dangerous so go ahead and do it at home. We thought it was clever and it worked very well.

Scary... anytime I move axles I just enlist the help of two buddies...

Or a cherry picker.

Or both.

Necessity is the mother off all invention eh? Make sense on paper but man that must've been sketchy.

you might be a redneck if....im surprized i havent done that.....

Not too proud of it, but I used a tow strap around a tree and the other end around a Dana 60 that was in the bed of my truck. Get the strap almost tight and then stabbed the gas. Came right out of the bed. I don't know that I would recommend it, but it worked.

with shran theres no might be a redneck now its just a probable

Yikes. But I am not surprised, Shran always finds the scariest possible way to do something. :D

You didn't just back up really fast and then slam on the brakes?

Haha. Thanks for the vote of confidence guys :D

It may look a little scary but it was actually a very strong setup. The rafters didn't bow at all. The ~450lbs is supported across 6 rafters with a cross piece. I was more worried about my buddy's apartment maintenance guys seeing us do this than actually breaking something. Wouldn't do it every day though.

Something tells me your not getting your deposit back when you move out.
