Well, I'm just gonna create a poll!



4" Coaxials:
Alpine SPS-400
Infinity Kappa 42.9i
JBL P462
MB Quart DKH 110

4" Components:
MTX Audio TX4001
MB Quart RUA 210
Clarion SRP4620M



My rear speakers can be pretty much whatever I want them to be I think (size wise)... unless I wanted to stay with the encasement they are in now.. which wouldn't be a bad idea in my mind.

its all a matter of order and the amount of $ you have to spent components are really not needed unless you plan on amping

i'll amp eventually, but are you talking about amping the components?

because with that i would have to spend a bunch more money on the amp, i was planning on one or two 10 inch subs behind my seats, and one amp running both of them, which is 2 channel correct?... but if i was going to amp the components as well would the amp need to be 4 channel?

if your not going to amp your components you dont really need them coaxals will work just fine if your going to amp you will need 1ch for each speaker so a 100w rms 2ch or 200w rms 4ch would be just fine. on the subject of subs you can go with a 1 or 2 channel amp 1 10 inch is just fine

so the 2ch 100w will pump 50w to each channel? and that should be fine for most general coaxials?

but in the 4ch 400w would just give me the ability to amp like two dash speakers and two door/rear speakers (when/if i get them)?

is there any point in getting a 2ch amp if i am only going to have 1 sub?
obviously the watts for the sub amp will differ since subs differ so much.

id just go with the 4" coaxials. out of the ones you listed, id probably go with the jbl's. the cost of going with components and amping them is quite a bit more and i dont think the gain in quality would warrant the extra cost. i think youll be happy with the 4" coaxials.

not a big fan of that sub, but then again I don't know much about the space you have in your single cab. Personally I would put 4" full ranges in the dash (not coaxials) what ever size components you could stick in the doors, which look like they'd take some fabrication to do. Maybe some small coaxials in the rears with a 10" aurasound woofer. and either a 4 channel amp or 2 2 channel amps. But I have a hard time skimping on the audio

Rjppunk, when you say full ranges, do you ,mean the same kind of speakers that are in cheap boom-boxes? have no real tweeter?

i can measure my shelf behind my seats tomorrow.. i'd guess it's about 5 inches deep though.. not alot of space.

i need some info real quick... if i have 2 dash speakers, 2 door speakers (components still count as one right? the midrange and tweeter = 1 channel?), and a sub... is that 3 channels?

or is it:
1 channel for left dash
another for right dash, etc etc

why not coaxials? between now and buying components for door it's gonna be a while.. i want GOOD sound

spending 18 dollars on new speakers? seems just like i'd be getting crap... idk.. not hating on your choice, just wondering if the $18 are so good.. why do the $50+ sell so much?
