Found this on eBay this morning. Looks like a super early version of a Turbocharger, but I have no idea. Never seen anything like it.

The safety wiring makes me think aircraft or some kind of racing.

i wonder what else was in the box of stuff he got, maybe some clues as to what it goes to. google lens says its a turbo, similar to VWVORTEX.COM stuff

Aircraft was a guess, as well as some sort of early turbo. The date on it is suspicious to me.

It looks to be a fan, not a turbo. I don't see any electrical connections. although it's hard to tell. It appears to be rather old given the style of the model plate.

I'd guess it either sat in some air stream and pulled air in from that tube connection, or air flowing in that tube spun it up and pulled air through it.

Hm.

And now the next really stupid question.

Will it make "gofasts"? ?

Considering it's missing the other half to make it a proper turbo... Nevermind.

Um yeah, put it on your 2.9 please, for everyone's entertainment.

It is just a fan, we have a similar one here at work. It is loud but moves a lot of air.

Air Research made a lot of turbos in the 60's/70's... that isn't one of them.

So, it's a fuel pressure regulator turbine for a jet engine. Sits in the turbine housing and uses moving air to generate either pressure or vacuum on fuel being fed to the engine.

Science!

Did you find this explained somewhere?
