What speaker fits an '87 Ranger?

My '87 came factory radio delete. I found a pair of speaker grills at the junkyard and I have the stereo but I can't find any speakers. There's only a place for 3 mounting holes. Am I missing a piece or adapter? Does anyone make a 3-bolt speaker? I didn't pay any attention to the truck at the junkyard to see if it was the same way.

I can't remember the dash speaker size to save my life, but it was definitely an odd size, and from what I can remember about them, they're no longer produced. I believe others have adapted speakers to fit though. We'll have to wait for someone else to chime in..

If I remember correctly, my Bronco II's had 4 inch speakers in the dash.

I found that CarID has some 2.75" for about $26, but could not create a Link due to copyrights?? They say "replacement speakers for '87 Ranger.

That is all wrong for the first gen.

Dash are smaller than 4”. No speakers in the door from factory and if you had speakers behind the seat they are roughly 4”.

Depth is the biggest killer for the dash speakers, the ductwork gets in the way fast.

Yeah the duct work is very close and I'd figure they're around 3-1/2". I don't have rear speaker boxes. I just want something where I can listen to the radio, I don't need it to be super loud or anything. I did see some 3-bolt to 4 adaptors for a Ranger on Ebay but they're pretty pricey.

They work, they aren't in super secure because the mounting holes don't line up well, but they do work.

The passenger side does contact the duct work, but it still lets the factory grill fit properly.

3.5" is probably right. I had a tiny pair of Infinity's in my '84 at one point but they didn't line up correctly at all the mounting points. Been close to twenty years so my memory's a little vague on this.

Yeah, it's been about 12 years since I did mine.

I know I did it in my sophomore year in college, because I remember sticking the old ones to the bottom of my room mate's Escort, and I only roomed with him that one year.

Now that I think about it, he is actually on here too, somewhere, but I can't remember his user name.
