I have wasted yet another day rideing my bicycle to diffrent part's store looking for a scocket that will fit the head bolt's on my 88 ford ranger with the 2.3 l Please help. I just noticed a socket 's in 12 point how is this diffrent?

12 point sockets don't slip quite as easily as 6 points...

I thought it was 9/16 but that roughly translates to 13mm...

Thanks guys fit's perfectly, but changed mind bout removing head, gonna try to see if it's a broken rocker arm maybe a broken retaining pin or ring? I am getting spark and fuel injector signal to #3 cyn but no combustion, wile running I can pull plug wires 1,2 and 4 and causes engine to stall but when I pull #3 I notice no diffrence in the running Idle at all, this isolates it to cyn #3 so I did a compression test and it tested at 120 lbs
could a condition exist that allows you to get normal compression yet not allow air intake for proper combustion? like a stuck intaKE valve?

You're getting a signal on #3, but are you actually getting fuel?? The fuel injector could be plugged...pull the fuel rail and check it and replace it if needed...you can tell if your getting fuel by removing the plug and smelling it...if you don't see wet gas on the plug (remove the plug wire so it does not fire) then you've got a fuel problem...

As for the stuck valves...that's possible...more like damaged valve stem...did you remove the rocker cover to check for movment in the valves?

120psi is poor compression.

You have the valve cover off look and see if the cam is flat and that the valves are opening and closing while cranking.
