Looking at the Smittybuilt XRC winches. Im running 35s on an extended cab with ttb and expo disc 8.8

What would be the best winch for my application? I usually do a lot of trails with mudding thrown in here and there

8K or 10K?? :icon_confused:

Id go with 10k, the bigger the better. Eventhough your truck only weighs less than 4000lbs, when its sucked into the mud it can even strain a 12k winch. I have seen an xrc8 catch fire, and out of all of them I've seen in action, they tend to struggle and break often. I've actually heard good things about badlands winches, and you can get them for about as cheap but for a 12k. Just remember you're adding almost 100lbs to the front.

One of the things to watch is line speed.Sometimes it's basically the same winch with lower gears. They usually state the gear ratio. If you think you need
ten it's good but sometimes the line speed gets so slow it's annoying to use them.

most of the guys i run with have the 8 in front and it is good but i love helping others so I went with 10 in front and 8 in back -both xrc ,you can tell a difference

I use a Warn 9,000 winch on my Jeep and Ranger. I had a smittybilt 8,000 and that is all you need for the Ranger. The Warn I bought from a couple who had just messed up their 4x4 and needed the money to get back into wheeling. I bought that Warn for under $300.00. That is the only reason I have it. It was a year old and was hardly used. I gave my Smittybilt to my littler sister for her Tocoma since she wanted to go out wheeling more then ever again. She has used the Smittybilt several times to help out other Rangers and Jeeps and Nissans owners who got stuck real bad. She never has got stuck and I am glad for that. She is a crazy lady!!!! She drives like a MAN!!!
Go Smittybilt!!! You can buy one on this website. Great prices as well.
