What size meats can the D35 handle?

You can run the 36" Iroks on a D35 pretty reliably. Run the good hubs you have, put 5-760X Spicer joints in the shafts with full circle snap rings, and don't get on the throttle if you're bound up.

I've broken 0 parts on mine and get happy with the throttle from time to time.

The key with the 35 is getting the best hubs, u-joints and maintaining the wheel bearings. So Jeep hubs, 5-760X spicer joints and checking the bearings often.

I use to run the full ring clips but didn’t really like the results. True I didn’t spit caps but I did spin them in the yoke and egg the yoke. Welding the caps in has given me the best results.

Now I have 44 outers on my 35 and love it, just love it:wub: Now Im looking for 38’s and once I get them I don’t intend on using less throttle, but I do only have the 2.9:rolleyes:

ok say if i got those 5-760x u joints, i really dont want the caps to spin and if they do with the full and half clips im going to want to tack my u joints in. if i do what is the expected life of that u joint because im sure if that u joint goes im going to the yard to get new shafts...

36s were my limit on the D35......broke plenty of shafts and lots of hubs....retired the rig after i bent the frame and the pass side drop bracket (Skyjacker brackets) was riding into the D35 housing.

Haven't been impressed with the jeep hubs, heres a jeep hub on a D35 welded spiders and 33 TSL's

you tack the caps in that way when u need to u can break the tacks free, and that way u wont destroy the ears on the shafts and only the joint itself gets trashed

Haven't been impressed with the jeep hubs,

personally id just rather have a warn hub go before my axle shaft go, i just bring the warn hubs back to advance and they order me new ones

Dang, so many people spell 'yolk' when talking about the 'yoke' that I almost didn't recognize the right word, Then you mentioned eggs and confused the crap out of me!

what all was involved in the 4 outer swap?

Lol, that's funny, I noticed that also

Yep, as has been stated, 35s is generally regarded as the upper limit for the D35. There are several here that do run tires as big as 38s without much breakage though (Warrlord (aka Thumper) is another who ran 38" TSLs & a Detroit on his big huge Supercab for a few years rockcrawling, with (IIRC) only two broken shafts during that time (not running the 760s either). I think he has 37" IROKs on it now IIRC.

You'll also find the general tiresize limits for a D44 front are not much greater than for the D35 (36-37" or so). You should be fine.

That sounds like a great idea at first, problem is... the stock hubs are SSOOOOOOO weak (probably not even 50% as strong as the shafts), they just turn into a major PITA annoyance (both for you and others around you). They just break too damn easy :no2:

Cheapthrill, you know for sure that's a jeep hub? (is that yours?) What's the story on it? (and I'd still sure as hell be impressed with however much it took to bust that compared to a stock hub)

.

I run the stock D35 outers on mine and have never had a problem with them.

when wheelin i bring spare hubs anyways, thats oen fo the many things i keep in my tool box, that way if they go i can replace them and keep on trucking, luckily when i was workin at advance i got 2 sets for the d35 for free, and i bought one way back when, so, i just swap them out whenever they go

yeah it was the jeep hub, holshotracer bought them from a local 4x4 specialty shop/vendor. The vendor has had them since early Jan. and hasn't decided if he'll warranty it or not.

He was in water trying to climb up the edge of an embankment, bumping it a little and working back and forth. Both outer shafts eventually let go as well as the hub. But can't be clear as to which went first. My standard Warn D35 hubs held as much as his jeep hubs once a shaft was broken.

I have generally heard good things about Jeep hubs. When I got mine, I spent a couple minutes comparing Jeep with regular Warn. The Jeep hub is definitely more heavy duty.

really the only difference is a metal/brass peice in the jeep hub and the std warn is just a plastic peice (bushing). Jeep hub is stronger but personally i couldn't justify the add'l cost of them vs the std hubs.

Dang, you ARE a cheap bastard lol The difference is a mere $3.

I do have to say though, that break looks suspiciously like the lightweight pot metal alloy of a standard hub. The Jeep hubs are a VERY different metal, even though it might not look it from the outside. But I also can't say I've personally seen a broken Jeep hub yet either, so I guess I don't really have anything to compare it to to know for sure.

BTW, Warn is who should be warrantying them, not the store. I'd send them straight to Warn if the store won't do it.

yeah thats what he is looking at doing. His hubs weighed like 2lbs more (each) then my warns. He only broke one. Its probably just a poor manufactured hub.....maybe they just made a bad one.

ok, im sittin here thinkin, whats the actual MEASURED size of the tires guys are runnin, cause a 35 ive seen measure from anywhere at 35" down to 33", depending on the tire and manufaturer.

For instance, i plan on running 38.5" gumbo monster mudders, they measre 35.5"
