Hey all, I'm getting geared up for my 1354M swap, I've got the transfer case, I've got the shifter, but I don't have the 2 bolts for the shifter. I spent all morning hitting all the wrecking yards in town trying to find a ranger/explorer with a manual case to snag the bolts out of but no luck. So, does anyone know what size the 2 bolts are for the shifter for a 1354M?

Thanks!

I think the small one is a M10-1.5, the big one is a special shoulder bolt with a M14-? (1.0?) thread.

I somehow misplaced the large one for mine so I ended up making one out of a stock M14 leafspring bolt (cutting it shorter in the middle then re-welding it back together) then using a piece of steel tubing sleeved over it to act as the "shoulder" that the lever pivots on. Sorry I don't recall the lengths of the bolts, though if you have the shifter handle itself, shouldn't be difficult to figure it out.

Only other option (other than the junkyard) is try a Ford dealer (I wouldn't be surprised if they're getting $30 or more for that bolt though).

Thanks for the info!! I'm not too concerned with the lengths, that should be pretty self explanatory.

As for the M14 bolt, I know 2.0 pitch is most common, anyone else know the pitch for sure?

For the pivot point I was Thinking about chucking a piece of aluminum in the lathe, take it down to the right diameter but leave a lip on it so the shifter can't slide right off, then centre drill it for the bolt to go through.

Sorry, it probably is a 2.0 pitch thread on the M14 bolt (whatever it is the factory leafspring bolts have).

The bolt head itself is of sufficient size to keep the lever in place (or a flat washer behind the head should work if you're using a bolt with a smaller head).
