I am having a lot of problems with a brand new Jasper 4.0 ohv engine. I could go on and on about the problems I am having from this engine, but I need to first determine if the engine is running a little to warm. My temp gauge is reading between 1/2 and 3/4, it does not matter if I am going 50mph or sitting in traffic.

Sounds about right to me.. You want the coolant temp to be around 205*.

I have a 99 4.0 with manual guages - that means there is a long thermistor wire running to my guage - it is not electric. The thermostat is a stock 160 degree unit. The guage reads just over 190 at running temp most of the time - jumping to about 205 at idle and stop and go traffic. Hope that helps.

These guages are easy to install and will go through one of a couple holes in the dash with a little filing. They screw right into the manifold on the front of the engine. Use a tee if you want to retain the other sending unit. These give you your best read on the actual temp in the engine.

temp

my gauge has been past the (h)on the factory gauge, but when checked with a temp gun and a aftermarket gauge reads only from 185 to 200,the gauge will mess with your head cause it gets up there
