What should I offer on this?

Well I'd certainly check it out. Does it have a salvage title on it now? If it doesn't then I guess it would just boil down to what kind of a deal you could get on a rear axle (if it actually needs one) and what it would cost you to do the rest of the repairs. Those explorers aren't worth a whole lot anymore these days, but if you already have the parts and it doesn't have a salvage title it might be worth it.

I wouldn't give him anymore then $800 for it.

I would say $700-$800 max.

$6 and a case of beer, or dynamite, which ever he prefers.

Go and take a good look at it.from the pics it looks like it may only have a broken center pin for the spring, if it does act like it is a big deal to fix and offer them 7 or 8 hundred.

Offer him a high five for it.:icon_thumby:

5 bucks and a handjob from a transsexual.

Wow.. Thanks for the immature answers. The spring is snapped in half right out of the mount on the front. I am in negotiations...

I would decide right now what you want to spend on top of the cost of the truck and how much you think you can make flipping it. I have done this a few times and have found that these things spiral out of control really quickly and you end up not making any money. I only ended up making about $100 on the last one I did...big profits for a lot of hours worth of work :annoyed:

I flipped a jimmy in may and made $1000.

Apparently he did not like my offer.. I did a KBB for it in fair condition and it was $2k. I told him it was in fair condition since the axle was falling out.

Anyway, not he is ignoring me..lol

I wouldn't pay more then 1000 for it. you are basically going to rebuild the rear end. which probably includes everything up to the spring perches. and maybe the drive shaft as well. hard to say from the pics.

chances are the rim on that side is been bent and you won't know it till you drive on it. so that needs replacing as well.

1000 Max. doesn't matter how pretty it is. theres some serious work there.

My personal rule is to offer 75% of the asking price.

If the seller doesn't budge I walk away and never give it another thought.

Haha.. He told me he would talk to his dad about my offer of $700. Then he writes back and tells me that his dad has been working at a dealer for 25 years and he says it would be worth $4000 if they fixed it. And there was another guy who came and looked at it today, so if I didn't raise my offer to $1000, thanks for looking.

To which I replied asking him why his dad didn't just fix it if it was 'so easy' and then he could sell it for 3k more.

Oh well.
