what rear axle do i have??

I agree, vin's would be necessary, my 4.0 looks pretty factory, and I'm a rank amateur at this stuff.

I have a 2/90 built B2 that came w the M5OD but still has the 7.5 and a 2.9.

There's a sticky in the B2 section that debunks all the B2 rumors.

is a m5od rare in a b2? i had a 88 BII with a m5od get crushed before

this thread should have been started BEFORE you purchased the axle

I was under the impression that even the few unicorn trucks that had the 4.0L and Dana 35's still had the 7.5" rear end. I thought the exploders were the first to use the 8.8" along with the 1990 Ranger.

Weren't those 'unicorn trucks' Ford R&D test mules, and ended being 'destroyed' when they turned the BII into the Explorer Sport... So, technically the public never got their hands on them, even if they were so rare...

thanks i appreciate the help. now i just need to find an 8.8 for sale:headbang:

No now what you need is a sawed off shotgun and an address for this guy so you can put 7.5 " up his arse for screwing you.:pissedoff:

I wouldn't believe that without seeing the VIN... Anyone can make it look factory...
except it wouldn't have had the 4.0 emissions sticker on the radiator support.

Unless you swap the sticker and/or support... I'm just saying, without a VIN, determining if it was completely stock or not is impossible... I know a guy that has a '96 Camaro Z28, but it looks like a post 98 car, complete with LS1... You would never know without looking up the VIN...
