Hey guys I got my 88 High Ryder up and running. It's great, so much fun for thrashing around in the field and playing in the mud. Now my only problem is this 2.9 does not have enough ass. I have a efi 5.0 to drop in but I'm not sure what trans and t-case to use? I want to keep it manual so don't tell me an auto is better or whatever. I would also like to switch to manual shift t-case. What have you guys used or what do you suggest?

Thanks Tim

Just read all the builds you can find. Then you'll find the answers to your next question(s).

(How do I hook up the clutch? How do I wire it? Which drive shafts? What mounts? What headers? Which shifter? Will the rearends last? Which rad? What fan? What about my heater box? Which accessories? Which oil filter mount? What fuel pump? How do I use my tach? Which gauges should I use? How much will it cost? How long will it take?)

I don't need to know how to wire, this or that, I don't need to know how to hook up the clutch, I don't need to know what headers, shifter, fuel pump, motor mounts, body lift, and so on. I asked a legit question. I do not feel it's a newbie question. Most guys go with a c4 from what I see. I am finding very little info on manual v8 rangers. Even less on efi manual rangers. Most guys go carb. All I wanted to know is what people have used and what does or does not work for the trans and t-case.

Anyone got more info?

Trans:
ZF-542 or 547 from a F250 or F350 (88-95) with an I-6 or 351W.

T-case:
NP205 with a NP203 doubler.

Thats all you need to know. :D

85_ranger and snoranger thanks for the info. I was thinking / planning on using a 205:) If I use the zf I can marry the two with little work. I'm not sure I want to run a doubler at this time. Maybe later on down the road I will.

Thanks again.
