What lug nuts for procomp series 51 wheels?

Just got a set of procomp 51 wheels and now I need lug nuts. The hole for the lug is flat so should I use tapered nuts?

If the hole is flat, you might need special lugs. You might be better off contacting Pro Comp. There are some wheels that require a lug shaped like a tube to support the wheel and protect the lug holes.

Those 51 series wheel are just steel wheels and should use a standard tapered lug nut... but to be safe you should consult someone at Procomp to be certain.

Yeah I d8dnt notice that they are flat at the lug hole until I took a look at them yesterday. I left them in the box until my kid mounted them and he dropped them off after it was dark and I was at work. Lol I'm probably over thinking it because on the summit site they show what lugs people bought with the wheels and they are tapered.

The seat face that the lugs tighten up to should be tapered if the wheel is supposed to have tapered lug nuts. Definitely give them a call. It could be that a manufacturing step was missed.

I've never seen a steel wheel that didn't use tapered lug nuts.

I have no experience with those specific wheels... but they sure do seem to be missing the slight tapered leading edge to those wheel bolt holes.

I think every steel wheel I've ever used has had it...

It seems like I am the only one in the history of trucks that has ever bought these wheels. There is no answer anywhere in the interwebs and no one seems to know. lol

The picture isn't quite clear. It seems there may be some bevel showing in the hole over in the right side, judging by the light reflection. But when I try to zoom in, the picture isn't focused good enough. Looks very similar to the hole in my wheels, which take tapered lug nuts.

There isnt and bevel like yours. I did find the info on Amazon of all places. lol They take a conical 60 degree tapered lug nut. I bought a set at Oreillys. Now the world knows! lol

Hard to tell for sure. Maybe it's just how the paint stuck to the rims? If everything torques up ok and looks like is seated right, just make sure you recheck after a few hundred miles. The lugs can loosen up during the first use.

Lug nuts hold the wheels on.

Later model trucks are hub centric. They have flat lug lug nuts and the center bore of the hub locates the wheel. Like 97+ F-150's and I assume others. I don't know if the Ranger ever made that transition though.

Do you have a part number for your wheels?

I am going to go with wrong application or they missed a step in manufacturing. A clearer picture would be nice too.
