I just recently picked up a 1993 Ranger XLT and I am in need of shocks.
I took the truck in to Les Schwab and they are not sure what shocks I need due to not knowing what lift kit I have.

Well, I see a James Duff shock & dual shock hoop... but the rest of the kit could possibly be something else.

Why can't they just match up some shocks with the ones you have on it now??

if ya haven't noticed, most places have nothing but computer screens to look at.......nuthin' to physically hold up to one another.......

anyways, if it is a Duff setup, more than likely the 3.5" lift

and since it is a dual shock setup, need to get the shocks from Duff for a dual shock setup cause the valving will be set for 2 shocks to share the work...not one to do it all

..........or you can go the ghetto route and get a shock for 2"-4" lift on the rear and repaint the old worn out front one for "looks"

Just get ahold of Duff. They'll get you some new shocks....

btw, that's the OLD kit. Very robust compared to what they sell now. I like the dual shock setup better, and the type of bushing they use (stock donut type) vs. the hiems they use now.

yeah, i guess I have noticed that with a lot of places lol.

I would try another (better) retailer where someone might actually know a thing or two about using the books that most manufacturers provide to retailers (or at least one that has some stock on hand they can use to match yours up with).
