Just curious, what kind of fuel mileage does everyone get with their ranger? Mines an 86 shortbox reg cab, 2wd with a 2.3 and auto tranny. I get 18-19 mpg in city and was getting about 25 highway. Is this normal?

Sounds like you are doing pretty good with yours. I've got an '02 4.0 auto 2WD performance chipped with 87K on the clock that got 21-22 on every tank city or highway until about two years ago. Now it pretty much gets 20-21. I always figured it was because they have added 10% ethanol to our gas about that time. My best ever: tailwind on the highway 23.8. Its EPA rated at 17 and 21 so I have very little complaints.

I just did a trip this weekend...made it over just a tad under 400 miles to a full tank of gas....That is also with a fully loaded bed of autoparts, hills of Germany, and turning 31s.

I can regularly get 20 sometimes as much as 23 mpg with my 91, 4.0, 5 speed, 4x4, regular cab ranger. But i spend 90% of my time on the highway.

These last couple days I've been hauling firewood in my 93 4x4 4.0 with 240000 on it. 30 mile round trip all on gravel, with the bed and a 12'x6' trailer full of green fir, and havent got less than 17 mpg, but it's usually between 17 and 20ish, one time though I got 23 on the Interstate.

3.0l, 180k miles, 3.73 gears, 31s, manual i was getting 15 city bc i have a heavy foot. if i am light on the pedal i can get 17 city and about 23 freeway. cant wait to finish my 8.8 with 4.56 and locker to see how that does lol. at least it will turn my tires easier? lol

The 1992 4x4, 5-spd, 31" tires, 2" lift exploder averages about 17 mpg this time of year, 19-20 during summer. The best I've gotten on highway trips is 24 mpg, but it's usually 22-23.

The 1990 2wd, 5-spd 2.3 turbo Ranger averages about 19 this time of year, about 22 in summer. The best highway mileage I've gotten is about 26 mpg. It did about 10-15 % better before I turbo'd it, but I figure I could get that back if I ran a manual transmission computer instead of one setup for an auto.

I've seen as much as 25 mpg & 310 miles on a tank of fuel. That was on a road trip from NH to Indy, IN & back loaded with my sister's stuff (and my sister). This was on a 90+ degree August day running though Pennsylvania. If it had been 20 degrees cooler, I'd have seen 27 MPG.

Most of the time, just running around town, I see about 22, depending on how high in the revs I shift. (97% of the time, it's under 2500 RPM)

My truck's got the oddball 2.3/5-speed/4x4/XL trim/purple paint combo, and has 155,000 on it.

my 99' 3.0 gets about 18mpg consistantly in the city and 21mpg highway. My 85' 2.8 with 4.88's gets 10mpg city and maybe 15mpg highway- no where near efficent and the motor runs tits so i dont know why its so low on mpgs, probably due to the 4.88's and these colorado mountains make that lil motor stuggle.

My dads 84 2.8 liter 27,000 miles on a factory ford rebuilt engine with 3.73 gears and P235 75R 15 tires is getting 12.4 city and 15 highway. He doesnt have a heavy foot, always shifts below 2500 rpm.

I get a constant 17 mpg on a 05 3.slow auto w/ dual exhaust and k&n drop in. I spend a lot of time on the highway bc of school and work though.
