I have a 94 4wd Ranger and I need to replace the upper and lower ball joints. I was on rock auto and there are different types for my year. Does anyone know which ones I need?

Spicer all the way. Nothing is better in my experience (get the good ones, I think they call them "Pro-Life" series or something like that now).

Moog is probably a somewhat distant 2nd. While the joint itself seems good, I've had them fail due to the cheapass grease boots splitting and letting dirt into the joint.

Actually what I meant was what type of end are on them? It gave me a Dana 28 and Dana 35 option and both had different ends to attach to the knuckle. I thought my axle was a Dana 35 given the model year, but why would there be a Dana 28 option?

Oh sorry :icon_twisted:

Yes, get the D35 ones whether you have the hybrid D28/35 axle or the regular D35.

Those D28 applications are completely wrong after 1990 (the standard D28 does not exist after that), and no one seems interested in fixing this error in their reference computers (balljoints are not the only thing, it's also brake parts, axle seals and spindles & wheel bearings).

Hey 4X4 did you just mean pro grade?
That's what they call 'em.. At least that's what I've found.
Pro-life is something a little different lol

Yeah not that "pro-life" lol

They called some of their u-joints "Life-series", but I though I had seen "Pro-(something) on the balljoints, wasn't sure (Pro-Grade sounds right).

yep the pro series.....they have blue boots on them.

there is a few other brands that are the same thing as well, napa has them also under there house brand, once again with blue boot.Anbd they are made by spicer

also McQuay-Norris extreme's are the same as the spicer, can get those at kragen but run 58ea

rockauto has the best price on them to the public for spicers pro grade

just a tip, search "rockauto discount code" in google and you can find a 5 or 10% couppon code
