its on the block by the oil filter on a 4.0 v6 ranger
i noticed the wires at the connection are frayed wanna c if i can replace it
i chased the wire up to by the ac then lose it
 
Oil level sensor. It closes a ground and lights a light when the oil is about a quart low.
 
A LOL sensor. Thats a cool feature. I've never seen it lit on the Rat. I will have to remember to check that at the next oil change sometime this fall. :D
 
cool thanks we though it had something to do with the coolant i look to c if i find the sensor

Yeah, it comes on in my BII about every two months or so, go check the oil and it is always exactly a quart low. If you put in 3.75 at your next oil change and start it up the "Check Oil" light, or the oil can light should come on. 3.75 is enough to not cause damage for a minute or two while you see the light, but low enough to trip the sensor. Then put in the rest of your oil.
