about 5 years ago when i got my ranger i found this wire sitting on the floor and stashed it in the glove box. today i found it and im still curious.

it looks like a switch... possibly for the glove box light is the ONLY thing i can think ok, everything else seems to work.

there is scrape marks all over the brass contacts like something slides on it

update:

took a look under the dash and found a spot where it plugged in perfect, but couldn't find where it goes. quick someone run out and take a look

this is located under the glove box. i tilted the glove box out and couldn't see where it went

What color is the wire it plugs into?

wire color is gray/blue

this wire is under the dash under the glove box....and my seatbelt sensor works so i still don't know what it is.

couldn't find it on my wiring diagrams, but i was going to look at work

How well does your glovebox light work ? (hint)

it doesn't. no socket. this wire wouldn't reach up there anyway, unless there is somewhere else to plug it in cause i think the plug i found might be a test lead. that doesn't explain the scratch marks on the brass either

mitchell and napafix proved useless today and i couldn't find even basic light diagrams today.

i also looked under the dash of a 94 today and it didn't have the connector like mine does in the last picture.

im looking into the possibility of this being the switch for the ashtray light.. which i also don't have a socket for.

the mystery has been solved, thanks to HndMeDnBroncoII

this is a picture of it, its the switch for the key warning chime
