What is this interior mounted jack missing on my Ranger?

Does anyone have a photograph of the bracket and other pieces that hold this jack in place? Also, what other parts or tools go with it? This is for my 86 regular cab Ranger. I want to track down all the correct OE pieces so it all fits like it should.

Well, dang, I just tossed a 92 jack and hold down not too long ago...and sorry I don't have pictures...but it should be in the Haynes manual or on the EBSCO HOST or whatever on-line manual...I will have a look to see if it does and let you know...

EDIT: Seems to be having issues...but I do have a user manual from the 92 that has a diagram of the jack mount...let me go find that if I can...it was in my "to go" pile that I was throwing out...BRB

As far as I can see it looks the same as my 88 and 92...they didn't try to improve something so basic as this...and I just walked right past the pile where I had the manual without even thinking I had offered this...lol...

First the mind goes...I will see if the EBSCO is working first...it's just a bit complicated for me to go outside these days so I really need to remember things better...

LOL...I'm working on that ability but haven't quite mastered it yet...

The on-line manual seems to be defective or they've caught onto us and are shutting it down...I tried searching Google and found quite a few images and even a few diagrams for later models...when I typed in 86 Ford Ranger Jack location it brought up several dozen images of where to place the jack under the truck...lol

I've even found a few images of Ranger and BII's where they show where the jack should be...but not the jack...I'm going to go outside tomorrow early as it's supposed to rain...my apologies for not finding anything with pictures...but I know there is a small metal bracket that simply fits over the jack and also has a place for a small lug nut wrench to be held down (also used as the jack handle if I recall correctly)...

Maybe someone else will find one before I do...I even checked the Rock Auto website because someone said they had repair manuals on there...but not necessarily that part...

I even went through LMC's catalogue thinking they might show a view of replacement parts...no...

I will try to find my manual and Haynes tomorrow...

Ok, I found an image of the jack stowage for the 92 Ranger and this is pretty much the same as the 88 regular cab. There is also an image for Extended or Super cab but I didn't shoot that...although I should...lol

They are a bit blurry because they kept moving around...when I breathed...and my camera wasn't as steady as it could have been...maybe I need a beer or something...lol

But you can see the part that should be there...although what your image showed looks a bit different...so maybe the earlier Rangers used a different secure method...only thing I could suggest is to get one out of a later model...I never had problems with mine bouncing around or making noise...until I decided I didn't like the bottle jack and stared carrying a scissor jack with me...

They are two similar but different ways to secure the jack and handle. The picture Richard posted is for a super cab...it fits into the space behind the jump seat...the one I posted is for regular cab like you have...

The little clamp thingy you have there is supposed to hold the base of the jack and the other side is held down by a bolt with a plate that covers the base and holds the handle...but...I don't remember seeing a place on yours for the hold down bolt to screw into...so 86 might be different than later models...or just a different method between Canada and US...my 88 regular cab had the one in the picture I posted...

I think, at this point, you can go either way with it...if you find an earlier model with a different method and can snag all the needed parts it would be original...otherwise...find anything upwards of gen II (89-92) and use the parts off that...gen III may be the same but I haven't seen one...my 96 was similar to the 88 super cab I have but the jack was missing...and they went to a different style of jack at some point...search e-bay and you will find all kinds of jack kits with everything in one carrier that stows behind a jump seat on the passenger side.

it may be hard to find the stuff you are looking for just from people junking their first gens...so I would keep that open if you can.

My STX has the style pictured that is stored in the compartments. I think the one in my regular cab mounts standing up.

It definitely mounts standing up...the images I posted show that...and I had the same one on my first Ranger...the base slips under the piece where the lug wrench is touching and the other piece fits over the opposite side...like in the images...and the lug nut wrench slips under the metal piece and it is fastened down with the wing nut shown in your image...I couldn't see the hole but I think there is one there...

My super cab has a setup like the one Richard posted...it rattles a bit if I don't put something on it...lost the bracket for that too...
