I replaced the gauge cluster in my 94 four banger Ranger with a cluster from a Mazda b3000 (v6) so that i could have a tach
Everything lined up and plugged right in, it appears to work fine.
but i was wondering if anyone knows what the little circut board that clips into to back of the gauge cluster is for? it just slides in and has a clip
heres a link to a couple pictures of it

I was thinking maybe it was so they could use the same cluster on v6's and 4 bangers and just put the chip in that was matched to that what ever motor? so say it would read the rpms
