So this truck I've been working on is my dad's truck. He had a stroke about 4 years ago and it left him in a wheelchair and it greatly affected his memory so I'm trying to figure out why he had ran this Green wire ran here to the brake pedal

. It runs out through through the steering stem hole to the battery. It isnt hooked up now but I'm guessing it was at one point. What would he have done this for?

Did you follow it to the other end?

The most common reason for doing that would be a trailer brake controller.

my GUESS is that it replaces the dangling wire in the first pic. or at least is associated with that circuit.

adsm08 probably nailed it.

Looks like there was a problem with the brake light circuit and he replaced a shorted or broken wire.

Yeah, I was at work and missed the other end of the brake light circuit hanging there.

Explain what you saw as I dont see either one hanging. They are both hooked to that switch or whatever..

Top left of the top picture, there is a green/red wire pointing to the left. That was probably the original brake light power wire. It had a problem so your dad ran a new wire to the battery.

The "new wire isnt hooked to anything but I assumed it may have been to the battery as it runs out there inside the driver fender but it is not hooked to anything. . Anyway as long as the brake lights are working I'm guessing I should just pay it no mind huh.? Are you certain that red/grn wire goes over to the brake pedal?

They're the same color, so a good assumption. I would bet money on the brake lights not working if the added wire does not currently go to the battery.

Pretty sure. The wire colors for the brake lights are green, and green/red.
