Some of my buddies were talking about Seafoam. It is supposed to clean out gunk in your engine and make your ride run better? Is this like 'Gunk' for the fuel injectors? Anybody used this before? I have 71,000 mile on my 99 Ranger and I put on a new MAP or MAF (spelled right?) sensor last year when my truck had a little biit of rough idle to it. The idle was back to normal after I put on the part (about $30.00 with shipping on Ebay last October).

Its a cumbustion chamber cleaner, you suck it into the engine through a vacuum line. It helps to remove carbon deposits from the cumbustion chambers.

Realy any one will do, doesn't have to be seafoam. I regularly use the Motorcraft version.

I thought it was ironic that my throw out bearing started rattling after i drained my oil with seafoam in it. I would put it in my gas or suck it through the vacuum line again though.

Seafoams generally considered a good product. I believe if you put it in the oil your supposed to change the oil like...quite soon after...50kms ish

ya i changed it 100 miles after i put it in and then roughly 700 miles after that i changed it again cause i had to get rid of that fram and get a napa gold...

I noticed a difference when i used it. I didnt put it in the oil though. Poured it in the vacuum line and then some in the gas tank.

I've done it through a vac line an in the gas tank before on a couple different vehicles. Be prepared though for a smoke show if your motor is really carbon'd up... My Ranger didn't hardly smoke at all, my F-150 wasn't too bad... my choptop though was the first I did...

I followed the instructions on the can for the most part (you have to let it suck just a lil at a time or it'll stall the motor), then I let it suck in enough to stall and left it sit awhile. Fired it up, let it idle, then I shut it down until i was ready to leave. It didn't smoke much when I let it sit an idle a bit. But an hour later when I fired it up and pulled out of the driveway.... lol... GIANT clouds of black smoke... only other time I saw that much black smoke was at a truck pull with semi trucks, lol. Turned the road behind me into midnight on a cloudy night, lol.

Thanks, guys for the info. I did not know you had to put in that way. I may give it a try to clean up some grime.

Don't put it in the oil if you have a high mileage motor becuase you might kill the motor by cleaning it out and what ever was keeping your motor together..

Well, I don't think I need it. All my buddies I talked with yesterday say that my truck is running fine, no problems with the idle and no black smoke out the tail pipe and the gas milage is fine (just not the gas prices) and there seems to be no problems with anything at this time. They said do't get it unless you really need to do so. I'll save the money for buying gas for that next fun trail ride comming up. I just turned 71,000 miles last week. I changed the fuel pump last October. I was getting a very small rough idle. After the new pump that went away. There was some gunk in the pump we noticed. It looked like a small glob of green/black gook.

I did it on my Ranger about that mileage and it didn't really seem to do much. My F-150 smoked a lil more at 70k miles, an my choptop with unknown mileage on the motor smoked like a fiend when I cleaned it.

Of course, my Ranger also got full-synthetic oil since about 45k miles and Motorcraft filters. Not sure how much of a diff that makes.

I poured in into my oil on my red ranger a couple times and never chenged the oil. Prolly stupid but it never had a hiccup. I use it through the vaccuum line and no probs and as a fuel system treatment. As far as I know seafoam is the only one you can use multiple ways. However the price went up 2 bux and now they have that stupid aluminim shaped bottle to validate the extra price. Its 10 bux a bottle now was 7.50

I used it on my old 99 with a 3.0 and 183k miles on it. It didn't even smoke when I fired it up after using it.
