So i am trying to find out what the actual normal temp is, what is "getting purty warm" and "Shut it the F off!!" temps are for the 4.0 in my Explorer.

With my Efans running, i usually run around 190*, with them off, i run around 205-210.

Hope you guys can help. Sorry if it is a double post. I searched through, and nothing popped up.

Those temperatures are fine. If it hits 240 you should be concerned. Above that you may want to find out why it is getting so hot.

So 240 is cracking heads hot? or middle of the desert with the A/C on and the truck is getting warm?

My truck stays between 195-200 degrees. With any vehicle or liquid cooled motor I would be keeping a close eye on the gauge at 225 degrees and I'd be turning the ignition off at 240 degrees. If it happened twice I would start looking into a problem within my cooling system.

depends on gauge and location.

200-225:icon_thumby:

cracking heads hot is already lost too much water and why i am hot hot....

slow slow leaks that creep up and kill....

thanks gents. So i will kick the aux fans on around 215-220.
