hey guys, Lately my 86 Ford Ranger has been stalling and not wanting to idle. So I checked it out and found out that the bolt that keeps the distributor tight was loose, so its not at the proper timing. So my question is, what is the correct timing for a 2.9L? It's driven daily by my dad right now and he needs it to run right. Thanks

you need to remove the "spout" connector /plug set timing @10-12deg
lock down the distributor clamp and reconnect the spout plug.

the spout plug just reconnects the ignition back to the PMC and then is allowed to advance or retard the timing based on feed back from sensors. with it removed it goes into a constant mode so you can set the base timing. as discribed earlier

I suggest 10*, I tried 12* and it was too much, when it got warm out it would ping.

thanks guys ill adjust it tomorrow an get back to you
