ive grown up calling this a sill plate. but apparently that doesnt apply to my explorer. and i cannot find this piece anywhere to save my life. someone help a brother out!!!!!

It's called a sill plate or cover to me too. :dunno:

Now im curious what crazy name ford is calling it...

"kick plate"?

The label on my Ford parts bag said molding. The label on my Mercury parts bag said threshold. I was told the sill plate is the part that says explorer ( just below your highlight circle in your photo ).

The catalog probably lists that as a molding or threshold, and the past embossed with "Explorer" as the sill plate.

For the diagram I have the embossed part is a "Scuff Plate", but the part you are looking for is shown but not listed. Mine is cracked so I was sort of looking too, though it will probably come from a junkyard.

Ok, I was curious, went old school & pulled out the my 1994 Ford body/chassis book, they call it a right front door scuff plate, base part # 13200 ( prefix & suffix #'s indicate year & color ). this in the explorer section. also a company called quirk parts ( 781-917-1071 )-( closed till Monday ) listed the part, they do a lot on ebay, you could check there ebay store. Also you could try calling a ford dealer, Monday, I think California dealers are closed for the day now.

OK, for the Ranger it's a Door Sill Scuff Plate Protector F57Z-1013208-A. Have not found it for the Explorer.

Anyone know if it’s the same part between the 2 and 4 door models?

It's a scuff plate, the kick panel(not plate) is the vertical piece of trim beside your feet. That being said, Ford has forever called parts one name in the shop manual and something else in the parts catalog. It's really helpful unless you want to order the right part.
