What is the most common Ranger engine (in here and out there)?

I've owned 11 Rangers...

1 - 2.3L... which I swapped a V8 in after 230K roughly.

10 - -4.0L... 3 - SOHC and 7 - OHV

There were three 2.3l
2.3l diesel
2.3l lima
2.3l duratec

2.3l ecoboost is in a different Ranger, if you include it then you should include the F150 Ranger and all the T6 international Rangers

So I think we should be looking at 1983-2011 Ranger engines :)

Don't forget about the Edsel Ranger, too. No, it didn't have a 2.3l engine. It could be had with a 3.7L inline 6, a 4.8L V8, or a 5.9L V8.

So, to those who say the Ranger never came from the factory with a V8, I say THBPPLLTT!! Oh, the F150 Ranger probably also had a V8 available. :p

The 70’s F-series Rangers could the optional 460... even in the F-150.

Tesla has a 2.9?

Ecoboost is based on the duratec too...

And like all 2.9l engines, it had 20 hp.

...and unlike the 3.0 it actually builds torque below 2000rpm (The T actually had 83ftlbs@900rpm, i was impressed)

It’s rated at 18... it probably makes 20.

At one time it probably did. She runs good but could use an overhaul. Was rerung in the late 70’s and worked like a borrowed mule since.

I meant '83-'11 Rangers, but this is most interesting, do carry on...
