im curious what to do. i would like to convert my truck to a manual transmission, if so what would be the best manual tranny for it? md05-r1? or is there a better tranny that is compatible?

if i stay with an automatic what is the better one? the 4r55e? or like above is there a better one out there that is also compatible??

im in a tight spot with not having it on the road and i want to figure this out and get started asap so all help is appreciated thanks

m5od-r1 is your only option for a manual transmission that will bolt up.

If you wanted to stay auto you could upgrade to a 5r55E.

is the manual one known to be strong and work well with the 4.0? im looking to be able to tow small things if need be and maybe enjoy a little off roading as well and also would i need any different parts for a 5r55e? like a new computer incase it might shift different or maybe different torque converter or things like that? and are there any known problems with the 5r55e also are they good for my application like stated above in the part about the manual tranny??
