I am in the process of installing a new lower intake gasket on our 94 4.0 litre ranger. I decided to remove the fuel injectors also and flush them out with cleaner and replace the bottom fuel rail gasket while it is on the bench.
When I removed the fuel rail, it was very difficult to pull it off the injectors because of the different angles the injectors go into the lower intake. I am wondering what will be the best way to re-install the fuel rail onto the lower intake manifold?
Should I install all 6 injectors fully seated into the lower intake, then try to push the fuel rail onto the tops of the six injectors? Seems it would be difficult.
OR, should I not seat the injectors into the lower intake but have the tops and bottoms of each injector kinda loose before I push down on the fuel rail.
Need your experience on how to assemble those parts easiest, as I have never done it before.

I can't immediately remember the assembly procedure but you're almost guaranteed to split o-rings if you do it without adding a little bit of lubricant of some sort first. I used a very small amount of petroleum jelly and everything went together very smoothly.

I'm not sure my way was totally correct. But I lubed up the o rings then placed the fuel rail on top and lined everything up. then very slowly i tightened the bolts one at a time. seemed to seat everything pretty nicely.

Oh, and yes I installed the injectors on the lower intake first and bolted that to the engine. then put the fuel rail on top. Sorry

thanks for the replies. I successfully installed the fuel supply manifold, as they call it in the service manual, yesterday. It said to lube the o rings with 10 grade oil. I did that and all parts pushed together with no real difficulty.
So, today or tomorrow I will assemble all the rest of the engine and see if it runs better.
