I am about to drop my 302 down into my 2 wheel drive 87 ranger, and i was wondering what headers i can use instead of the Headman Headers. Will just shorty headers fit in there? Or could i put a set of BBK shorty headers on it.Need some help guys. Thanks Brandon

Best bang for your buck for a 2wd seems to be tri-ys. Use the search feature..you know the button up top with the drop down menu. I'm pretty positive you'll find about 6,543 threads asking the exact same question:icon_rofl::D

Lol alright thanks.

no problem. just yanking your chain though man; this question is asked WAYYYY too much. search 2wd 302 headers and you'll get tons of info..more than you'll care to read.

:nono: Nope, now there's 6546 threads, including this one and the one you missed.:icon_rofl:

Tri-Y's might be a good choice if using a 5 speed manual, but word on the street is that they don't clear an AOD very well, although some guys have modified them to work.

Or the 164t bell on a C4.

I put a link to the thread we had going wanting to make a sticky in the top sticky in this forum last night.

I'm guessing they won't work with a C6 also?

One word of advice about engine swaps and headers: No matter what header you end up choosing, be prepared to do some "tweaking" to make em fit. No two swaps are exactly the same, so what fits for one swapper may or may not fit for another without doing some changes. I've used my Tri-Y's with 4 different engines, two different heads (E7TE and Canfields), three different transmissions (Toploader 4 speed, SROD and a 157 tooth bell C-4) and everything cleared fine. Now that being said, Tri-Y's from another mfg may not fit. Just as no two swaps are the same, Tri-Y's from different manufacturers may or may not be the same. If I wanted to use a big bell transmission, I would find a way to tweak my Tri-Y's to work, if they didn't. It's just the nature of the beast (engine swaps):icon_idea:

FWIW, concerning Tri-Y headers. Some companies make them specifically for Automatic trans. These may or may not be different, i don't have experience with them. But dougs headers list two part numbers.
Remember, we're talking about headers for '65-70 Mustangs.
No idea if these differ from the same year Fairlane or Ranchero versions.
