what have you been pulled over for?

I just got stopped yesterday morning during the transition when the highway stops and the town starts and I got issued a ticket as I was slowing down.

The limit dropped from 55 to 25 not exactly sure where he clocked me but right after the 25 change there was a red light which I stopped at. He got in behind me and pulled me over when the light was green, told me I was doing 53 in a 25 :icon_rofl:

How stupid do you have to be to pull over somebody in a marked truck for a major nationwide company? They know we drive for a living and they also know our job is on the line if they give us a ticket, so we're gonna come back with the most expensive lawyer we can afford. Especially me, I carry legal insurance specifically because I know cops are stupid enough to try screwing with us.

The only down side is cops are the 1 thing I hate more than lawyers, so after court I'm gonna have to take a long shower to feel clean again.

Why can't cops just stick to doing something useful like catching criminals?

Got a ticket the other day for not stopping enough at a stop sign. It was a trap, cop was hiding around the corner. I'll plead not guilty just to be a bastard, maybe get it knocked down in court, and waste the cop's time and the township's money.

Its not an illegal arrest, he matched the description of another vehicle that was called in for gunfire. If it went to court the officers would simply say they were acting in good faith and it would have been case dismissed.

I love how people always assume cops are going to get sued, very rarely do things like *that* happen^ and I believe if it were some idiot driving around your neighborhood and you called it in and then saw another person with a smiliar vehicle hauled off to jail you would feel it justified :icon_thumby:

The "good faith doctrine" covers the stop and detaining, but probable cause is needed for an arrest. The multiple officers were used as precaution for a possible armed subject, but after a search was conducted of him and the truck he should've been going home if no further evidence was found. Cops do get sued all the time for mostly bs though.

I know there are several people on here that say cops are dumbass' or assholes, but trust me we're just doing our job like everybody else does. Believe it or not, but most tickets are given due to the drivers attitude or they just did something really screwed up. I will admit i have seen some law enforcement officers that just don't belong, but most are making a living even though we don't get paid enough for what we deal with just like the military.

My stupidity includes:
'68 Chevy C10 - 65 in 45, 72 in 45, laying drag (100 yards), drag racing (i won against rice). All ended in warnings
'78 Jeep CJ7 - just asked about burnout, but didn't think it was me since it had 35' tires. I didn't question has judgment
'07 Colorado - speeding a few times, but warnings
'08 Colorado - speeding a few times, but warnings
'88 Ranger - it's been all good

its not about "law enforcement" , its about "revenue generation" why else would a city cop be sitting between cars at a car lot after midnight on a main drag? they know that about 12:10-12:20 there will be some traffic heading home from 2nd shift, no other traffic out, they are banking on someone not paying attention and being a few mph over and they can go for the easy money, never mind the drugs on the south side of town or the drunks heading home after the bar closes. if im out i'll set the cruise for 28 mph and not have to worry if i speed up a bit. its hard to judge your speed without any other traffic, and if you stare at the speedometer constantly, you end up weaving, missing a light change or something else that gives probable cause to be pulled over for.

I rear ended a lady who slammed her brakes to let a pedestrian who wasn't crossing the street at the end of a blind turn. Unregistered, attached plates, no insurance... Still haven't found out what lady expects to get for her 2000 Subaru wagon... Nice car my a**

You ran into her and that makes you 100% at fault regardless of the reason she stopped. Your insurance company has a book that they use and for the most part it is pretty reasonable.

Good grief...this attitude won't take you very far. If you aren't down to 25 mph when you pass the sign, you are wrong. Everyone blames the cops but their lazer units don't lie. The "It's never my fault" is always used by habitual offenders.

ticket #1 age 16 (1985 T-Bird) had DL for 2 weeks. 45 in 30 didnt know the speed limit changed.
ticket #2 failure to maintain speed (95 in abandoned warehouse parking lot) 2003 GSXR600
#3 no ticket but pulled over distrupting the peace... i kicked a police car that was merging into my lane (2005 Harley V-Rod)
Ticket #3 calling said cop ^^ a stupid @$$ 4073 for not paying attention and he said I was abusive. Dropped at court judge said to the cop that I was correct in calling him what i did.
None in sploder or ranger (knock on wood)

Speeding- was racing a guy in a V6 firebird on the freeway $$Ticket
Incorrect license plates for truck (stupid DMV lady gave me SUV plates. I never caught it though either) It was funny cause I drove it like that for 3 years and got nabbed twice in the same day for it!! Fix it ticket
To many forward facing headlights, I had the headlights, factory fogs and an aftermarket set on at the same time.- Shut off one set

the others were just warnings.

#2 1986 jeep grand wagoneer. bad inspection

#3 1995 chevy blazer. light check

#4 1998 explorer. didnt stop completely at stop sign. and no front liscense plate.

#5 ticket #2. 2008 mazda speed3 my cousins car. got stopped at a trffic stop, bad inspection. no insurance cards. fought in court and won

#6 the ranger-bad inspection. cop wanted to get infront of me, i waved him in, he lets me pass and pulls me over.

It's not as though I was flying through the town at 53mph. There was a cop waiting at a speed limit change clocking people at the end of the month to fill his quota. For all I know he could have clocked me in the 55 zone and claimed I was in the 25. I've seen them try that crap before. There was nobody hurt, no property damaged and he had to drive all of 6 feet with his lights on before I pulled over. But then I'm stuck with a $160 fine. Seems like the only victim here is me.

Take a gander at this recent article.

Tell me again it's got nothing to do with the money.

Driving naked down a one way street...but it was in Montreal so they looked the other way at my nakedness...in fact, the cop wouldn't look at me at all...she was too busy laughing...
(inserts filthy sense of humor here) :icon_rofl: :D

The only thing I don't understand is the fuzzy dice lol.
If they are small, then it's generally not an issue. If they are the big ones, then yeah... I could see being fined for that.

My 92 Ranger:
Failing to wear a seat belt. $87 fine at the time.

My Dad's 94:
Coming home from work when I lived in northern Alberta, I was stopped a few blocks from where I was living: Failure to signal, no right headlight. I had nailed a deer a couple of days before and was waiting to take it in to the body shop. Officer saw the collision thingie I had taped to the lower left of the windshield. Got told that it wasn't "cool" to be driving around without both headlights working and that the truck should be repaired as soon as possible. It was two days before the adrenaline stopped surging through me. I have pics of the front right of the truck somewhere.
