K I got a question and I'm not trying to be stupid. If I come across as such I do apologize. Here goes, what happens or would happen to an 88 ranger with 33's on 15's with pre runner fenders? No lift, if any, maybe a 2 in. Would there be any binding, rubbing or suspension issues?

It might be possible, depends on how much the prerunner fenders open up the wheel well. I have 32" tires on my '90 with no lift and generous fender trimming. My fenders are trimmed just about the maximum before it starts leaving gaps in the front (around 2" removed on all sides) and not fitting together anymore with the plastic inner fender liner, which I also trimmed to match. It still rubs a bit under compression while turning. I plan on adding about 1-2" lift coils in front. You will be better off if you go with 33x10.50R15 instead of 33x12.5 tires.

Most of the time the rubbing with the fenders can be easily eliminated with fender mods, the problem is the rubbing on the tie rods and/or sway bars/other susp components at full lock. It not just about the outside edge of the tire, you have to look at the clearances of the inner edge as well. 33's just wont go on stock, even I cant argue in favor of that. I argue alot too.

Ok cool, noted. 33's will not fit on stock. What then are the options for a guy who is pretty much broke. I can't afford a wicked tall suspension kit jcwhitney has got a 3 in kit for $300. The fitment chart says 4in lift, where do you find that kit at. Also I've heard mention of replacing the radius arms is that a better or cheaper way to go. Basically to make this easier for those of you who might know the answer, I want the pre runner look but not the pre runner price. I'm not going jumping, im not rock crawling. I'm driving on the free way and every now and then go off road to shoot at crap and blow stuff up. I'm just tired of having this little tiny econo truck. I want my truck to be able to drop its balls so it can play with the big kids and sit at the cool table during lunch. Thanks for your help in advance.

hey if you want a budget lift, go for either a 2" body lift (3" is a little tacky) or 2" coil spacers and alignment bushings in the front and longer shackles in the rear.

and as previously stated, 10.5" width will help alot with rubbing opposed to a 12.5

oh and a body lift should only be like 150, and the spacers can be purchased for around 90 or you can make them yourself quite easily. shackles can be bought from www.ruffstuffspecialties.com or theyre really easy to make yourself.

right now i have a 3" body lift and fx4 springs (not even using the blocks) in the rear of my 89 2wd xlt and i clear 31's comfortably. theres quite a bit of rake to it, but im guessing that because of the extra weight of the 302 and c6 up front. im planning on putting 2" daystar coil spacers up front and i'm fairly confident that i'll be able to barely clear 33's.

F150 coils are what? 15 bux at the junkyard and good for at least 1.5 -2 inches. ANd Explorer springs for the rear are also around 15 bux will flex better, plus 2 inch drop shackles at the parts store 30 bux, which lower the springs effectively raising hte truck. Take a look at r1hatman's truck, this is his setup, his is 83 and considerably taller than mine, we are both on 31x1050's. Oh you can also do two inches of washers in place of a body lift bushings, I wouldnt keep them permanent, but a good economy lift. Cant beat that.

Nice, I can definitely hit up my local junk yard for those parts. In regards to a body lift is anything extra involved as far as other parts needed that aren't provided with the kit, or is it straight forward?

depending on the kit u get, you might have to fab up some bumper brackets or else it will look like total crap
