Hey everybody,
Everyone likes a story and tonight I feel like sharing.. My buddy Rafael got me into rangers back in 2002 with his white '93 single cab 4 banger 5 speed danger ranger. I learned how to drive a stick, power slide (it snows a lot in michigan) and off road (lightly) in that lil bastard. We replaced many a starter, but that aside we couldn't kill it no matter we did. He sold it a few years later but my fond memories of that beat up truck wouldn't fade and eventually i ended up buying my 94, the way i wanted it lol; same powertrain, just more extras like a/c and extended cab. Well, he finally got back into the ranger scene only he left the 2wd 4 banger stick shift crowd behind.. sniff sniff.. His vehicle is a 2001 3.0 autofail with 4x4. It was a theft recovery; the radio was stolen and they cut the wiring harness to make their job easier. Raf wants to go with the stock look and my question to all of you is, "What other Ford radios will fit in his truck?" We are headed out to Taylor auto salvage on saturday and it will make my day if someone can tell me that I can pull a radio out of a 1999 town car or 2004 mustang and it will bolt right in.
Thanks a lot fellas, I appreciate it! :icon_cheers:

I know any radio from a Ranger, Explorer, or Mazda B-Series from 95+ will fit. Is there a reason he wants stock?

Thanks for the tip,
Yeah, I think he doesn't want to spend money on the adaptor thing to go from a din to 1/2 din + the extra money on a decent head unit. Hell, I'm not sure if the truck even has speakers...

I know a 98-2003 will fit. 97 and older has a different wiring plug. i have a CD player that came in my 02 that will work. let me know if he wants it. ill let it go for like 50 buck or whatever.

C_note, his friends truck has no harness so he wants to get a radio and harness from a JY.

Derek, tell your friend he can get a new aftermarket head unit for around 50 bones(I've seen JY want more then that for an OE unit), and I'll post a link for what I did for a DIN adapter and it cost me 3 bucks and a little time.

Edit

Here's the link for what I did for an adapter.

The scrap yard we visit is pretty cheap though. I'll keep that option in mind though, especially if they do charge a high price. What ford car will have the best 5x7's, a Mark VII?

The best 5x7, or 6x8s I'd say check every car truck and van for aftermarket speakers sometimes you get lucky (even if you find some like 5.25"s you can make a mount out of plywood for pennies), other wise there all pretty much the same from ford, but the newer the better.
