What engine oil y'all running now?

Man, the guy you speak of going through vehicles and not maintaining them...how does one just never learn? Is there a condition that's opposite of OCD? If there is one, I'd say he has it. That's just crazy.

that is hard to say. i dont know whe is dumber. myself or charlie.

all he bought was tires and brakes and a transmission.

didnt waste any time or money on changing oil and filters and shopping...time crawling around working making and cleaning up messes....just bought oil at the gas station and dumped it in...when the 5.3 got real hungry the last few years before it started smoking he was buying st at walmart by the case...most of the consumption and smoke was because it was loading up due to the way the valve cover/pcv system works.

i keep the miles off of my junk with company shop/fleet vehicles the last 10 years so i am lucky there.

my ranger has a diesel so that still gets rotella....but the 4.0s get the restore and protect now.

My 85 f150 leaked enough pil that i just kept it topped up. It ran and ran. I never changed the filter though, i geuss i figured sincenit was always getting new oil thst maybe the filter never got dirty? Who knows, i was 17 when i got it and 19 when i got rid of it. Many states crossed and many beaches surfed in that ol truck. I loved that truck.

My wife's 03 Camry is a mystery really... that 2.4L has a class action lawsuit thing involved in it but when we got it that was well past available... we got the thing 50k ago and it's consumed about 1 quart of oil per tank of gas since we got it and gotten worse but she runs it until the light comes on then adds oil... which is 2/3 of capacity! She's been doing that for like 3 years... I just changed the filter for the first time in like 3 years last night for good measure... How that engine survives I have no idea! Her car has like 275k on it, I bought a wrecked donor with 115k to swap the engine but haven't gotten that far yet, it's been on the short list for over a year...
