My truck is a 95 4x4 4.0. I'm trying to find out which version of the 4.0 I have. Mine has the plastic intake plenum. It is different than my brothers 93 and my uncles 2003. I want to do some work to my engine to get some extra power. Knowing where to start would be great. My truck has 250000 on the clock. I know the trans and clutch etc. Have all been rebuilt. Not sure about the engine though. It doesn't seem to have the power it should. The power is missing all the way thorugh. Bottom middle and top. It makes its power band right about 2700 to 3200 rpms. But it isnt fast by any means. I've had this truck for about 6 months. It's runs perfect but it seems like it is missing a few ponies. I would like to get ideas on how to wake it up a bit but I don't want to go crazy. If my engine is tired I'm going to wait till it goes and rebuild it with a few extras. Or find a used one to start building up now. Im fairly new to rangers and 4.0 engines so I'm trying to figure out what is worth the money and what's not. My truck is a daily driver with a mild lift and 31 inch tires. I'm not building a race truck but I would like a little more power. Any shove in the right direction would be appreciated. Thanks
