What does a 96 2.3 NOT need to run?

I yanked the 4 popper out of an old ranger and am putting it into an old 55 willys jeep. I go the computer, the wiring from it to the motor, and all the sensors, etc (except VSS).

Anyway, I know the EGR is going, along with the tube from it to the manifold to gain a smidge more room at the firewall (this is a short hooded jeep.....not much room). But what other sensors do I not need on this? All I need is to have an oil pressure and temp gauge.

So whats the bare minimum I need to have this run right?

Thanks!!

wiring to ignition system, including coil packs, crank, and cam sensor is all necessary. MAF, engine temp sensor, IAC, TPS, injectors, o2 sensors(at least the pre cat sensor for sure) are all going to be needed.

Really the only things I can see being ok to eliminate are going to be anything emissions related or accessories, like A/C with electrical connectors and maybe the o2 sensors after the cat. The computer takes into account readings from all those sensors to calculate fuel/air ratios. I'm sure i missed a couple sensors, but that's all the major ones i could think of.

If you're trying to make more room, I would also suggest getting rid of the factory fan and installing an e-fan, that could free up about 6-8 inches!

Good luck!

Anything emissions. Like was stated before, any sensors that the pcm uses to calculate fuel ratios, keep the engine running, etc. should be kept.

I have the MAF, so thats good I remembered that!!

Took the fan off already to make removal easier......I believe I have all the sensors as I only unhooked the big wire connector from where it goes thru the firewall, and the wires that ran down to the tranny or wherever.

The post cat sensor got broke, but I have the pre- sensor still attached to the down pipe, and the wiring for the second one, so no biggie....hmmmm I think I have it all!!

I guess I'll find out when the day comes to turn the key, LOL

Thanks!!
