Dorman isn't an especially well-loved brand in general - I can't speak to that light though, it just seems a bit pricey to me.

Is your light broken? Mine developed a leak too but I was able to seal it up nicely by removing the lens, a good clean up, and a very thin layer of Permatex ultra black on the suspect area. Invisible and waterproof. And essentially free.

Otherwise, any good u-pull scrapyards near you?

this. I would take good used parts over Dorman. tailgate cables you are probably okay to use, but anything electrical run away

Why does it seem pricey to you.

My light is not broken. I don't want to use silicone or anything similar to that because its to nice of a truck so thats why i was thinking a new third brake light

Why would you take good used parts over dorman. and why do you say to run away if it has to do with electrical and dorman.

Well, I think it's a pricey solution because in the end, if all you have is a little leak and the lens isn't broken then it's just a gasket issue. Sometimes they crack or harden, sometimes the screws have just loosened. My thought was just to inspect that gasket and do whatever you need to do to refresh it and/or seal it so it doesn't leak. I'm not talking about glooping on a bunch of bathroom sealant, just the bare minimum of any number of things to restore the seal. That would require inspecting it first though, at which point I'm sure we'd all have lots of ideas for how to refresh it depending on what, if anything, is wrong with it.

Heck, someone out there probably sells the seal by itself. Whether you do that or use a junkyard part, you're keeping it original and it seems that's important to you.

I don't want to answer for djfllmn but Dorman isn't known for making high quality parts, and the more complex the part, the more likely you are to have problems with it because their quality control is very spotty.
