what do you think of a horizon indicator in ranger?

An interesting waist of time and money.... May I suggest you buy a smart phone, if you don't already have one, and get an app like the clinometer by Smittybuilt. Than buy a window or dash mount, Calibrate the thing on the flats and go for a ride in the woods. That's the one I use. It offers you fictional pitch and roll plus an alarm to tell you when your to close to rolling or flipping over. It also has a GPS compass. I suggest putting your gyro horizion in your den to give you and the buds something to talk about over a case of beer.

Smart phones are not terribly cheap, and unlike a gauge suck more money every month.

It would be neat to play with... one hole or log on the wrong side and it is all for nothing as far as any safety advantages.

It's your truck. If you wanted to outfit your dash to look like an airplane cockpit, then by all means do it. It's your truck.
