came across a horizon indicator from a cesna and thought it might be fun to put in my ranger. (it would of coarse have no practical purpose other then for the hell of it)

what do you think?

Go for it. I have a BMW kidney tied to the center of the Rat's grille and a BMW hood insignia. :D

I think that's about the most pointless thing in the world on a road vehicle, since it rarely leaves the level.

On the other hand, the new F-Series have them, so why not.

i know it would be useless but could come in handy when i go flying down the road:icon_rofl::icon_rofl::icon_rofl::icon_rofl::icon_rofl::icon_rofl:

If you get to the edge of the universe it will tell you your falling off:-)

It would probably be a cool thing to watch if your truck gets picked up in a tornado or hurricane...keep your mind off what's going to happen later...maybe call it a "Whatever" gauge...:)

might also need a altimeter to see just how far in the air the tornado or hurricane :D:icon_rofl:

if i install it i will have to figure it out. it looks like it needs vacuum and air pressure. vacuum is no problem but air pressure is.

I would have to agree. And do they really? That's ridiculous!

OTOH, I really like gauges myself. I put an oil pressure gauge on my lawn tractor, which I think is only slightly less pointless...

Honestly I'm a little surprised that those things don't seem to go for very much. On eBay the average rate is about $200...

Might consider mounting it on the driver rather than the vehicle, along with an ignition lockout switch.

Yup. The 12+ F-150 and Super Duty trucks with the high level instrument clusters have a screen called "truck apps", and really the only thing in there is a screen that shows the pitch and yaw of the truck, taken off sensors that are part of the traction control system.

It does some other stuff too, but you have to have a trailer hooked up for the other stuff to work, so I don't get to play with that stuff ever.

Naw...people who can afford one of those trucks have better places to drink than somewhere they have to drive away from...usually...

It would be cool to have one on a horse...hook the vacuum to the horses mouth and the air pressure to his butt...

Sounds cool to me.

My 2011 f150 4x4 supercrew has it also...its a XLT package..actually considered a "fleet" truck. ..expensive fleet truck.
I was playing with the offroad truck apps as pictured above in the ditch going into my field. I had the truck at pretty intense angles and the truck app worked pretty good. But i don't understand why anyone would be looking at a graph on the dash and not out the windows at what you or your truck is actually doing....seem pointless to me in that size of truck.
